My Favorite Music Videos From This Past-But-Not-Yet-So-Distant Decade (2000s)

I’ve been wanting to compile a list of my favorite music videos of the 2000s for a while. And finally I’m sitting down and doing this. The list is chronically ordered.

1. “In the Waiting Line” (2001) - Zero 7

    Milkaholics like me SHOULD all like this video.

2. “Someday” (2001) - The Strokes

    Despite how much I love their video for their “You Only Live Once”, I decided to put “Someday” on the list instead. It’s real, and it makes me feel happy to be a 90s kid.

3. “Happy Sad” (2005) - Gemma Hayes

   Miss Hayes is probably one of the most talented and beautiful female songwriters ever.

4. “Fidelity” (2006) - Regina Spektor

   Who does NOT like this video?

5. “Glósól” (2006) - Sigur Rós

   Mesmerizing. Mesmerizing. Mesmerizing.

6. “Stepping Stone” (2007) - Duffy

   Everything is so raw and beautiful in this video, especially the drinking-milk-out- of-a-bottle part.

7. “Hang Me Up to Dry” (2007) - Cold War Kids

   Purely stunning, I can’t love a music video more.

8. “Phantom Punch” (2007) - Sondre Lerche

   You get dizzy. Just watch.

9. “I’m Good, I’m Gone” (2008) - Lykke Li

   Reminds me of the movie “Songs From the Second Floor”. I think that Surrealism is a Swedish thing.

10. “Lisztomania” (2009) - Phoenix

   This video makes me wish I was growing up in the 60s. And on an unrelated note, I’m very glad that Thomas Mars and Sofia Coppola are a couple, if you know what I’m talking about.

11. “11th Dimension” (2009) - Julian Casablancas

   Alright, I know the Strokes is on the list too. But who doesn’t like a music video that tells a story, or even better, 3 parallel stories in this case. I just adore Mr. Casablancas, and his hair.

12. “It’s Working” (2010) - MGMT

   I can’t expect anything else but sheer creativity when one of my favorite bands makes a music video with a Parisian designer. Plus Andrew’s hair kills me.

I might be forgetting some, but these are the ones I can think of at this point. I will keep adding to the list until my brain refuses to dig any deeper.
